I really cannot believe it's been more than year since I clicked that 'New Post' button!! And signed into this blog for that matter (Darn I'm so predictable I should get a new password) For starters, I'm pretty sure none of our friends drop by this relic blog anymore. But just on a whim, I'm typing this out to wish all 0901PM4-ians a Happy Awesome New Year! All the best in your endeavors and may favour and wisdom be with you every step of the way. Cheers to 2011 - overflowing joy, hope and peace :D And on a whim, if you happen to pop by and read this, know that I'm thinking of you!

Hope everyone is doing well in their own diverse field of study/work in whichever part of the globe you're in :) It'd be great if we could start a friendly discussion forum perhaps on FB just to get the whats, wheres and general ados of the members of the dynamic and famous 0901PM4.

So I'm signing off now, but it feels really good to write this. Take good care, dear friends. Gimme a nudge sometimes and feliz ano nuevo once again!

Epilogue

It is when the mind is free to wander that we can reflect on the past and feel the pangs of separation and longing for the old and the familiar. Sentimental notions war with the harsh realities of life: leaving, moving forward, moving apart. It is hardly possible to remain swathed in the blanket of nostalgia forever.

We have learned so much from each other, and grown immensely in each others' presence. The fun and laughter, the victories and failures, the joys and sorrows, the fears and doubts, the trials and tribulations we shared help make us the way we are today.

Together, we made these memories. Each of us craftsmen contributed to the intricate designs on a portion of the tapestry of our lives, thereby leaving our imprints on this piece. These memories are uniquely ours. They are vestiges of our history to be cherished for a long time to come.

Soon we will set sail for unfamiliar territories. I take this opportunity to wish everyone all the best as we traverse the realm of the unknown. Also, a million thanks for the wonderful time we have had together. Hopefully, our paths will cross again as we journey through life.

To all, bon voyage.

The sun beats down relentlessly, your heart is pumping frantically, adrenaline courses through your veins, your aching muscles are screaming at you to stop.

Your lungs are beyond hurting, your breath comes in short gasps, sweat pours down your face, arms, and legs, every step forward is like agony.

Yet you push on.

Because in the end, when you finally cross that line, you know everything will be worth it.

If you set your mind and heart to it, even the stars are not unreachable.

Basically, this is a collection of pictures which documents our journey for the past 16 months together. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I couldn't agree more. The photographs are arranged (mostly) in chronological order. Thus as you scroll down the page, you should be able to see how much we Fourians have grown and changed during our time together. After stalking y'all for quite some time, I've managed to gather these treasures and compile them. The end is near. The fact that we've just had our last lab session cements this notion of finality. (Can't believe we're hanging up that stinky KMnO4-stained lab coat for the last time) Time really flies. With A2 finals mere days away, intense preparation mode is kicking in, but this time around, the melancholic feeling of imminent separation pervades our class. That's a sad but inevitable fact of life. We should enjoy the remaining handful of days we have left together. In the meantime, work hard and give our best for finals. Never lose sight of our goals. Let's end A Levels on a high note.

Sweetest Girl of the Year

Tiffany Soon Huey Ling, nominee and sure winner of the Sweetest Girl of College Award. I really don't even have to say much because there probably is no other more suitable award for her. She's nice, kind, helpful, fun to be around and an amazing friend. And it's not just me saying it.

Emily Khoo - "SHE IS THE SWEETEST GIRL. She's fun to be with, really nice, fun to be with, not boring, has a dark side (?), ~~sleeps and eats in the library~~, scrabble queen, incredibly intelligent and hardworking, has severe OCD issues, nice even to her stalkers and is the co-Vice president for GOSSIP"

Hiss to you if you disagree with Emily =D Yes, she may be a bit rebellious by sipping water OCCASIONALLY in the library, but otherwise she's really a rule-follower =) Her OCD just makes her more like Ms Emma Pillsbury from Glee. Seriously they are like identical! (Similar hair styles btw too O.o) Look at her stuff, and you might go insane (you have been warned!) Just imagine this. She staples her notes. There's an additional sheet and it should be stapled together. She removes the stapler bullet in a surgical like manner with her very STEADY hands (watch her in the lab O.o!!!) and restaples the new pile of notes AT THE SAME LOCATION!!! This is to avoid unnecessary holes. And she is the only one in class who edits the chemistry lecture notes to appropriate fonts and shapes before she prints them.She says this is her gift. Whatever helps you sleep at night Tiffany =)

Siew Ming Yan - "She is the sweetest girl in college. Very capable, neat and organised. She is supportive and friendly. Anyone can be her friend. And by the way, her name is Tiffany Soon-fast-as-lightning-Huey Ling"

I completely agree! There hasn't been one student or lecturer who has not fallen in love with the SOON font (which I am the agent to haha) which is becoming more popular by the day =) It's better than Arial, Comic Sans and Times New Roman all put together. Some samples will be put up soon online =D

Not to mention her artistic talent especially in drawing has gained raving reviews from her peers, Physics Lecturer Ms Agnes (on her brilliant experimental designs), Ms Lillian (for all her project work) and Ms Lourds (for her amazing biological drawings of cells, tissues and everything else!)

And, um, her amazing speed in everything is just inspirational =)

Tin Yuee Jhian - "Demure and sweet. The one who's always with an encouraging smile. That's Tiffany."

Well, how much better can this get? Yuee Jhian is another sweet girl of PM4 so her comment speaks volumes =)

Audrey Ng - "A girl with beautiful smile and always optimistic. A girl who is confident, friendly and can hold an inteligent conversation. You can feel comfortable being around with her. You can never find any girl sweeter than Tiffany. Sweeter than all kinds of sugar! (glucose/fructose/galactose) Her molecular structure is too sweet to be included in A-level's biology syllabus. =)"

Audrey, another super nice girl of PM4 vouches completely for Tiffany's nomination =) Note her sweetness is out of this ~~world~~ syllabus =D

Renee - "She deserves it. She is literally the nicest person EVER"

Kwan Chung Zhun - "Lay your eyes on her and you get a mark in your history book. All I can say is she is a beauty beyond any description"

National Scrabble player, a debater to fear, animal lover and activist and a renowed pharmacist to be, Tiffany Soon is the very definition of the Sweetest Girl in College Award. And being a goddess in biology (94 for the recent trials!) doesn't hurt as well XD It's sinful not to vote for her. Kevin will probably kill you if you don't.

O'er stacks of notes and tutorials we pore,
Reference books and past year papers galore,
Brain buster questions that make your head spin,
Tempers flare and anxiety creeps in.

Your future hangs in the balance of this one sitting,
And not to mention your parents' ka-ching,
The stress amounts; the students keep fretting,
Spending most of the day (and night) desperately cramming.

Meal times and sleeping hours don't concern us,
As long as we get Applications and Integration in first,
Bleary insomniacs pace the corridors at night,
To Respiration and Gene Tech notes they hold on tight.

Counting down to D-day, the stress intensifies,
Trepidation and worry haunting our minds,

And so..I'm typing this post out of obligation as a responsible member of the class :) Semester 3 is going by at the speed of knots. We sweated and groaned and complained our way through complex numbers, obediently finished Chemistry tutorials *ahem*, explored the fascinating field of GT, and an Electromagnetism test capped an exhausting 2nd week back in college. In 20 or so more weeks, we'll be sitting for yet another all-important examination on which our future depends. (That's A levels for you sigh)

In between homework and tests, there is the usual friendly classroom banter and of course, scandals abound. To be in our class, you need to be on either end of two extremes. Please take your pick among these: ADHD, OCD, sexual identity crises, panic disorder, 'kiasu-ism', SSD (spontaneous singing disorder). Do I lump 'stalker' and 'evil genius' with the lot as well? Lol.

Currently everyone is anxiously awaiting the release of the AS results on Mon. You can't even say the 'R' word or something remotely close to it now without evoking a violent reaction from fellow Fourians. Good luck people!

Sadly, we also had to say goodbye to a dear classmate and friend, CZ who was our former class rep. We would like to thank his successor Karan for assuming this heavy role; shouldering the responsibility of attending to our demands, delivering our homework promptly, being our new spokesperson, and uh..scapegoat (jk hehe). We also have a new addition to the lively family: Gen Nen. Welcome to PM4!

Lastly, all the best to everyone who will be attending interviews and submitting uni apps, and congratulations to those who have received offers from their respective unis.

Oh-kay. I guess that's all-for now.

This is your usual post to celebrate the end-of-exams. (I'm taking this one, Ashveer :D )

And so, our AS chapter has finally come to an end. What a euphoric moment. We have slogged at our desks the entire year and given as much as we could during finals. Somehow, Sir Winston Churchill's quote comes to mind: "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat."

Just have to say a few (random) things:

Ms. Fiona, we will miss you dearly :(

Once again, happy birthday to our year-end babies whose b'days were during exams: Emily, Fifi, Jin Howe, Jeremy, and Ju Ee. I hope I didn't miss anybody out.

Stuttering Problem

A guy walks into his doctor's office and says, "Ddddoc, I've bbbeen sssttttuttering ffor yyears

and III'm tired of it. Ccccan yyyou hehehelp mmme???"

The doc says, "Well, I'll have to examine you first before I can answer you."

The doc examines him and says, "Well, I'm pretty sure that I know what the problem is."

The guy asks, "wwwell wwwhat is it, ddoc?"

The doc says,"It's your penis. It's about about 18 inches long and all of the down pressure is putting a strain on your vocal chords."

The guy asks, "Wwwhat ccan wwe ddo about it?"

The doc replies, "Well, I can cut it off and transplant a shorter one. I can guarantee that the operation will cure your stuttering."

The guy says, "Dddo it!"

The guy has the operation and about four weeks later he comes back to the doctor's office and says, "Thanks Doc. You've solved my problem and I don't stutter any more but I've only had sex once in the past month. My wife doesn't enjoy it any more. I cannot satisfy her. She liked my long penis. I don't care if I have to stutter, I want you to put my long one back one!"

The doc replies, "Nnnnope. A ddddeal's a ddddeal!"

The Buffalo Theory

The "Buffolo Theory" of Beer..

A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first.

This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers, and that's why beer is so GOOD for you!

Labour Pains

A married couple went to he hospital to have their baby delivered. Upon their arrival, the doctor said he had invented a new machine that would transfer a portion of the mother's labour pain to the father.

He asked if they were willing to try it out. They were both very much in favour of it. The doctor set the pain transfer dial to 10% for starters, explaining that even 10% was probably more pain than the father had ever experienced before.

But as the labour progressed, the husband felt fine and asked the doctor to go ahead and bump it up a notch. The doctor then adjusted the machine to 20% pain transfer. The husband was still feeling fine.

Impossible to Please

A group of girlfriends is on vacation when they see a 5-story hotel with a sign that reads: "For Women Only." Since they are without their boyfriends and husbands, they decide to go in.

The bouncer, a very attractive guy, explains to them how it works. "We have 5 floors. Go up floor by floor, and once you find what you are looking for, you can stay there. It's easy to decide since each floor has a sign telling you what's inside."

Jumping

Here are a couple of great ways to kill yourself by jumping off a tall building, or cliff, or basically anything really high. The thing about these is that they generally work best if you can get a big crowd watching before you jump. Don't do it when there is no one around. There's just no bloody point in that.

Explosives Strapped to Your Body

Difficulty level: 7

Get a LOT of explosives. The more the better.
Hook up a detonator to an altimeter. Set it for 100-200 feet. That will give you good dispersion.
Mix vaseline and gasoline in a bucket.
Find a really tall building. Something like the World Trade Center (not anymore, but you get the idea smarty pants) is perfect and is in a sufficiently crowded area to generate the proper sized crowd.
Get an extra large trench coat, ski mask, duct tape and a very reliable wind-proof lighter. Torch lighters are best.
Bring your materials to the top of your building. Liberally apply the vaseline-gasoline mixture to your entire body. Duct tape the explosives around your legs, arms, head and torso. The more explosives you use, the better. Attach the altimeter to the explosives.
Put on the trench coat and mask so that the explosives are not visible.
Start ranting and throwing things so that you are sure to attract notice. Drag this part out as long as possible. Say anything that comes to mind but try to stay away from real problems. Your love life does not make for a good sound bite, something about trees telling you to kill yourself works good. Ask for news cameras from the major networks, so you can warn them of the coming tree invasion. Pace around while waving your arms and pointing a lot. If there are trees around, point at them.
DO NOT let on that you have explosives on your body. The police will clear the area and you definitely don't want that.
When you've gotten the crowd to a fevered pitch, when the helicopters are hovering like vultures, whip off the jacket and set yourself on fire.
Wait until you are completely engulfed in flame then jump.
Try to steer yourself towards the people in the crowd who are chanting 'jump, jump, jump'. That way flaming falling body parts will pelt them when you explode. If you used enough explosives, everyone within seeing distance will have a piece of you.
Congratulations! You've just made history. I bet it feels good just thinking about it. But don't cheer up, there are plenty of other ways to do the deed.

Falling through Chain Saws

Difficulty level: 10

This is much more difficult to pull off. Instead of explosives, the money shot is you falling though three or four operating chain saws. You do not need as high a building for this --- anything above three stories will do. Remember to use the vaseline-gasoline mixture. That's the ingredient that adds pizzazz.

Bullet in Your Head

Difficulty level: 1

HAMMER a bullet into your skull. Make sure there is an empty gun nearby but do not fire it (a gun that has never been fired works best in this situation). Bash the bullet into your frontal lobe. It doesn't matter how you get it done it will perplex the authorities for years and you will, most assuredly, be a hot news topic. You'll probably even make it on MythBusters. Hell, you want fame in death to rival the obscurity you had in life don't you?

Death by Hairball

Difficulty level: 3

Get a cat or a dog and brush it every day. Save the hair until you have a giant hairball. Plug up your nose then shove the hairball into your mouth.

Leave a cryptic note about how you believe little Fluffy or Rover was planning to kill you in your sleep.

Meat Grinder

Difficulty level: 11

Find a sausage making company that has a giant meat grinder. Set up a hidden video camera to tape your death. Leave a will with explicit instructions that it not be read until one year after the night of your grinding. In it, detail the way you died and the location of the hidden camera.

Sneak in at night naked and turn on the video camera. Climb into the grinder and take massive amounts of pills of your choice. Make sure it is enough to kill you.

In the morning you will be ground up and made into sausages. One year later your will, will be read to the news media and people all around the nation will vomit simultaneously.

Drown in Your Own Urine

Difficulty level: 8

Get a huge vat or possibly an above ground pool. Save all your urine. Drown yourself in it. Put a note on the side of the pool saying, "MY URINE."

This method would work for any body fluid: vomit, snot, dooty. For you despondent guys out there: A vat of your own sperm would be truly impressive. You will have to get some viagra and work frantically for years, but what else have you got to do?

Chop Your Own Head Off While Standing Next to a Major World Leader

Ingratiate yourself with your chosen mark. Get his/her/its confidence. Become a trusted member of the inner circle.
Sew a hand ax into a coat or jacket so that it is easily removable but not particularly visible.
Make a statement. Video tape is preferable because the TV news shows love visuals. The more visual material they have the better. The next best thing would be audio tape. It won't hold an audience as well but at least it can be played under the video of your death. Never write a letter. No one reads anymore. No one will care. Make sure your message will be easily found on your corpse.

If you have any investments, convert them to money. Take all your money and lose it playing online poker. This is especially important if you are well off. Don't tell family members and other greedy people that would profit from your demise. After you die, they will go crazy trying to find the missing money. They may even kill each other. This will bring you satisfaction, maybe even some companionship, in hell.
Now, stick your head in the turkey just after it comes out of the oven, preferably during the Christmas Day^TM family gathering but a Thanksgiving Day^TM end may also serve your purposes. Your timing really depends on your own peculiar circumstances.
Run around banging into family members all the while flailing your arms and yelling obscenities. You can never go wrong flailing your arms when trying to kill yourself. The more flailing the better.
Go into a room that can be easily locked so you won't be accidently saved by well meaning but inconsiderate friends or family members.
[Alternatively you can just flee the house and run through the streets aimlessly until you pass out. NO ONE in a large city will ever go near someone with a steaming turkey on his head. Labour Day diary ;)

Met at Starbucks before 11-ish.

Chatted a while, moved towards cinema where Kevin and Manjulah bought 18 tickets for WOLVERINE X MEN ORIGINS MOVIE!

While waiting for the 11.20 am movie, more chatting took place. Justin, Chang, Michael, Chung Zun and me went to Arcade and played some games for a while. CZ trashed Chang in some shooting game whereas Michael narrowly (emphasise NARROWLY) beat me in racing =.=

Then went in to the cinema! Watched the terrific, awesome, funny, suspense-filled, action-packed, exciting, adrenaline rushing, wonderful, cool, terrific, awesome, funny (...) movie! (to be elaborated further by someone else)

After that, we took some pics and then went for a marathon around Sunway Pyramid deciding on lunch! about an hour we were conferencing and finally, we could not agree on anything. A few restaurants we tried chased us out the moment we said 'table for 18' So there was a quick decision to split up. Some went to Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Carl Jr and Am Square (karaoke place hehe)!

Since I joined the Karaoke group, i will talk about it and maybe others can post on their fun lunches as well ok :)
Emily, CZ, Kevin, Renee, Stefanie, Tiffany, Juee and myself went and started singing and eating! Was so fun, except for my singing (and Kevin's at times - dont tell him - i am kidding - seriously i am kidding - lame - lamer - will stop now - ??)

Particular nice songs we did - Womaniser (kevin rocked this), mamma mia (renee was elated n so passionate bout this, together with the other girls), ronan keating's say nothing at all, some kelly clarkson, hoobstank reason, pussycat dolls beep, something kevin RAPPED (yes!!!) and coldplay's yellow...lots of other nice ones as well XD

Well after an American Idol session, we kinda talked more, met up with the others and went back!------------------------------------ming yan going back by KTM with me -------------

Please do not laugh at me or my singing ok! For the record, I dont think it was me (probably CZ hehe) Wow Kevin, Tiffany, Renee, Emily, Juee and Stef should be taking part in OIAM or Idol! Video showing Because of you by kelly clarkson (tiffany really enjoyed this one) and dancing queen (renee and gals loved it!!)

Hi, just want to inform all PM4 people that our Biology lecturer Ms Lourds has kindly put up the powerpoint presentations on BB7.

This may be helpful for the upcoming 2nd class test. New notes posted as of 1st May 2009 include Chap 4 (cell membrane, transport), 5 (cell division), and 6 (genetic control).

Let's keep up with the happenings in PM4!
Ms Agnes (and Fifi) hosted a terrific Physics Bee competition and it consisted of the prelims and finals.

Congratz to Tin Yuee Jhian who made PM4 proud by being declared 1 of the 5 winners :D!
Also for making PM4 proud in the final rounds - Emily, Tanusha, Cher Li and Kevin! You guys did great sweeping the 6-10th placings of the tournament XD
To the other representatives, you got hard questions compared to the rest and also a big thanks to the supporters who definitely INTIMIDATED the others :p
